The second trawl was recorded shortly afterwards, at around 6:20 pm. The criminals acted quickly and coordinated, approaching drivers and stealing their belongings, which led many to return on the wrong side of the road.

After the video of this Monday’s raid began to circulate, internet users criticized the violence on the road:

“What’s worse is that every day, for as long as I can remember, I’ve heard stories about dragnets in this place.”

“Last week I got caught in a dragnet twice, and thank God, as I was far away and there were many cars in front, I managed to get out by going into a side street. I stopped. I don’t go there anymore. It has become a lawless land.”

“And no one does absolutely anything to put an end to it.”

In a statement, the Military Police stated that the 3rd BPM (Méier) was not called to raid Avenida Pastor Martin Luther King Jr. this Monday.
