The month of April began with rain in most administrative regions of the Federal District. According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), on the first day of the month alone it rained more than 30% of the total expected for the next 30 days.
Until this Tuesday morning (2/1), the DF recorded 43 millimeters (mm) of rain in the Plano Piloto. The amount is almost a third of the average predicted for the entire month of April, of 145.2 mm.
According to meteorologist Dayse Moraes, the forecast for this Tuesday (2/4) is for skies with many clouds and isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
The minimum temperature recorded by Inmet was 17.7°C, reaching 28°C. Air humidity should vary between 100% and 65%.
“The forecast for the next few days is rain. The weather is expected to remain cloudy and closed, with showers at any time. It should only open again next Sunday (7/4)”, explained Dayse.
Yellow alert
This Monday (1/4), Inmet issued a yellow alert of potential danger – the first on a three-level scale – due to the possibility of intense rain.
The risks of falling tree branches, flooding and lightning strikes are small, however.
The weather warning is valid until 10am this Tuesday and should be extended for the next 24 hours. The alert predicts records of heavy precipitation.
The estimated rainfall is 30 to 50 millimeters per day, with winds of up to 60 km/h.
