Police arrest 52 people in anti-narcotics operation…

SÃO LUÍS – The Maranhão Civil Police (PC-MA) arrested 52 people as part of the ‘Narke’ operation, which aimed to arrest drug traffickers and seize drugs, as well as other illicit materials and objects resulting from drug trafficking crimes. The arrests were carried out from April 22 to 27 in several cities across the state.

According to the State Superintendence for the Repression of Drug Trafficking (Senarc), the focus of the operation was the integration of the fight against drug trafficking throughout the national territory, aiming to establish the commitment of each state after the creation of the National Network of Units Specialized in Combating Drug Trafficking (Renarc), of which Senarc/PC-MA is a member.

Operation Narke in the State began in the early hours of the 22nd and ended on Saturday morning (27th), dozens of Police Officers from the Capital and the interior participated in the actions throughout the day. Of the 52 people arrested in the police action, 31 were in flagrante delicto and 21 due to arrest warrants.

As a result of the operation, in addition to the arrests, the police seized seven kilos of drugs (marijuana, crack and cocaine); four firearms; 61 ammunition of varying calibers; four motorcycles; a car and R$16,500 in cash.

Incineration

During the operation, the police also incinerated 200 kg of marijuana; 25 kg of cocaine and 75 kg of crack.
