The crime occurred about four months after Douglas filed a complaint after having his photo linked to a criminal faction.

The story was clarified by the young man’s mother, Walquiria do Carmo. According to her, her son even considered moving to another Brazilian state for fear of suffering violence.

“They told him that this photo was being circulated in some faction groups and such and that it had already taken on a very large proportion, it had already reached Salvador”, highlighted Walquiria.

Douglas, who denied any involvement in the crime, registered a police report in November 2023.

Killed on football field

The young man worked as a construction assistant at a construction company. In his free time, he played football and participated in championships.

It was in one of these amateur tournaments on Rua Portuguesa de Desportos, in the Parque Ipê neighborhood, that he was killed.

“My heart is bleeding, my heart is torn, this is the right answer. I feel helpless, not having helped, I wasn’t there to try to help my son because, for a mother, losing a child like that is a pain that I wouldn’t wish on anyone”, said Walquiria.

Witnesses said the shots were fired by four men on two motorcycles.

According to a report by Douglas’s brother, Danilo Borges, the delegate in charge of the case said she already had a line of investigation. But, so far, no one has been detained.

In the midst of this, the reporting team tries to contact the Civil Police again, but the corporation has not yet responded.
