Rio – The Municipal Health Department (SMS) reported, on Monday night (1), that vaccination against dengue could be stopped on Saturday, the 6th, due to lack of doses. According to the ministry, there is no forecast for the delivery of new shipments by the Ministry of Health. The vaccine is still available in Primary Care units (family clinics and municipal health centers), Super Centro Carioca de Vaccination, in Botafogo , and Super Carioca Vaccination Center, in Campo Grande.

According to the SMS, almost 105,000 doses were administered to children aged 10 to 14 since vaccination began, on February 23, until this Monday.

In a note, the secretariat highlighted that, due to the improvement in epidemiological indicators in recent weeks, the city of Rio is no longer experiencing a dengue epidemic. However, the ministry recommends that the population maintain precautions against the spread of mosquitoes. Aedes aegypti, mainly at home, where most of the disease vector foci are found. Actions include emptying containers with stagnant water, filling plant pots with sand and cleaning drains and gutters.

In 2024, to date, 82,436 cases of dengue fever and seven deaths due to the disease have been recorded in Rio.
