With a total of 121 arrested in the act, 412 new investigations opened, 638 police reports registered and 369 urgent protective measures requested, Tocantins ended last Friday, the 29th, Operation Átria, launched in all 139 municipalities, with focus on combating violence against women.

During the Operation, 83 police investigations were also completed, with due materiality, and educational activities were carried out, including 32 lectures with more than 2,900 people reached.

“The balance is extremely positive, we followed the planning to the letter, involving the security forces, carrying out not only repressive actions, but we also worked on the culture of prevention with lectures in various locations, aiming to raise awareness among future generations, reducing the risk of potential aggressors”, highlighted the director of the Integrated Operations System (Siop), Colonel Álon Amaral.

The director of the Interior Police and coordinator of Women and Vulnerable Persons and delegate of the Interior Police, Ana Carolina Braga, highlighted that during the month of March, the police forces are in high demand when it comes to carrying out educational activities. “Due to Women’s Month, society aims to talk about combating violence and this is very positive. However, it is important to highlight that these actions must last throughout the year and not just on a specific date. It is important that society gets involved and embraces this cause to avoid any type of violence against women,” she highlighted.

The operation

Launched across the country, on March 1st, Operation Átria is coordinated by the Directorate of Integrated Operations and Intelligence of the National Secretariat of Public Security (Diopi/Senasp), with support from the Ministry of Women and the College of Women’s Coordinators in Situation of Domestic and Family Violence of the Brazilian Judiciary (Cocevid) and coordinated with the state security secretariats, the action is carried out by the Civil Police and Military Police of the 26 states and the Federal District – in some federations, together with the Military Firefighters, Guardianship Councils and other partner bodies.

In Tocantins, the actions were coordinated by Siop, which developed joint actions not only with the security forces, but also with the Secretariats for Women and Original and Traditional Peoples (Sepot), the Center for the Prevention of Violence against Women of the Secretariat of Health de Palmas (Nupav/Semus), among others.
