The number of accidents fell by 19% and deaths remained stable compared to last year

During this Easter weekend, five people died and 93 accidents were recorded on federal highways in Santa Catarina. The numbers were released this Monday, the 1st, by the Federal Highway Police (PRF), which carried out Operation Semana Santa during the last four days.

In these 93 recorded accidents, 102 people were injured. Compared to the same period last year, there was a reduction in the number of accidents and injuries and stability in the number of deaths:

Four deaths were recorded on Thursday, two on BR-282 in Erval Velho and two on BR-101, in Içara and Laguna. The fifth death occurred on Sunday, in a head-on collision on BR-470 in Campos Novos.

PRF inspection caught 227 drivers driving under the influence of alcohol, 218 overtaking in prohibited areas, 42 using cell phones and 201 traveling above the maximum speed. In addition, 222 people were caught without seat belts and 38 children were traveling without a seat.
