But is there a secret hidden behind? Yes, as Steve himself reveals in a conversation with Guitar World: “A lot of people say I have a weird style, but I’ve never tried to copy anyone. You pick up different licks here and there and eventually create your own style, but it’s not forced. My playing just happened.”said the bassist.

Steve believes he has a big asset on his hands – literally speaking, when it comes to his nails: “The nails on my left hand are almost gone because I don’t need them, but I let the nails on my right hand stay as long as I can without them breaking, because that way I get that high-pitched sound. If they break, I might have to increase the treble of my bass to compensate”he explained.

As for the performance of the shows, it has to do with something else: “I play the best I can when I have a lot of adrenaline flowing. It’s a natural thing that just happens – some nights you get more than others. When things get intense, you get this rush.”.
