Brazilians get divorced more, and faster
The information released by IBGE is based on data from the Civil Registry, released this Wednesday (27). They also show that Brazilians are getting divorced more and faster. Across Brazil, in 2022, there were 970 thousand marriages and 420 thousand divorces (including judicial and extrajudicial), that is, one divorce for every 2.3 marriages in 2022.
In 2010, there were 977 thousand marriages and 239 thousand divorces. In other words, that year, the ratio was 1 divorce for every 4 marriages.
The data also shows that divorces have occurred earlier. In 2022, almost half (47.7%) of divorces occurred less than 10 years after marriage. In 2010, it was 37.4%.
