In addition to the internal agendas at the beginning of the week, governor Eduardo Riedel (PSDB) will participate this Monday (1st), at 9 am in the opening of the Mato Grosso do Sul State Forum on Climate Change: “For a Green MS, time is now”. The event will be at Sebrae MS, based at Avenida Mato Grosso, nº 1661, in the center of Campo Grande.

On that occasion, the resolution to improve the Forum’s safeguards and governance will be signed, the cooperation agreement between Semadesc and Sebrae – ‘RoadMap: Carbon Neutral Territory’, and the Climate Change notice – FUNDECT (Foundation to Support the Development of Education, Science and Technology of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul) .

On the occasion there will be a lecture by professor Daniel Vargas on “Climate Transition and Conversion of Green into Value”. The green agenda is part of one of the four pillars of the governor’s government program during his term.

“This is the first Forum and it becomes the most important event on the State’s environmental calendar. In 2022, the State Government implemented the State Climate Change Forum. Now, it will be activated and it is at the Forum, through its scientific committee and its technical chambers, that public policies relating to the environment in the state will be discussed”, informs the executive secretary of the Environment at Semadesc, Artur Falcette.

Schedule – During the afternoon of Monday (1st), the event will focus on two thematic panels. In the first, entitled “Climate agenda: missions and mitigation”, experts such as Renato Roscoe, Jeconias Júnior and Mônica de Los Rios will discuss the adherence of municipalities to the climate agenda, state jurisdictional Redd+ strategies, and the role of the productive sector in this context.

The second panel, “Connecting the three pillars of sustainability in practice”, will bring reflections on restoration actions as drivers of development, sustainable production and its social impacts, and the contribution of tourism to climate action, in addition to the MS Carbon Neutral 2030 Program .

The following day, April 2, the forum will offer practical workshops, all focused on the application of sustainable solutions in different sectors, such as livestock, fire management, carbon neutral strategies, conservation of water resources and innovative models of sustainable agriculture.
