Rain is expected to be present in Porto Alegre this Friday | RODGER TIMM/PMPA

The Easter weekend begins with an unstable atmosphere in Rio Grande do Sul, with irregular rain expected and the risk of some very isolated storms. Part of the state has already seen instability today with rain showers and even hail as the hot and humid air favored heavier clouds in the Northern Half.

Maundy Thursday recorded localized and poorly distributed rain in different parts of the Center and North of the state. Heavy showers in the afternoon hit, for example, the Serra and Cruz Alta regions, in Alto Jacuí. In the Northwest, hail was recorded during a temporary storm in the municipality of Giruá.

This Thursday night, instability persists in parts of Rio Grande do Sul, especially in the Northern Half. Very isolated points in the Northwest of Rio Grande do Sul may experience localized heavy rain and even the risk of some very isolated storms.

Much of Rio Grande do Sul, however, did not experience rain on Thursday. The highest accumulated until the end of the afternoon in the National Institute of Meteorology network had been 23 mm in Tupanciretã. In places where it rained, which were not numerous, precipitation was generally below 10 mm.

This Good Friday, instability continues in Rio Grande do Sul and once again tends to concentrate in the Northern Half, although it also rains in parts of the Center and South of the state. Unlike today, when there was no rain forecast for the capital, this Good Friday rainfall is expected to be recorded in the Porto Alegre area and metropolitan region. It may even rain in the morning.

The instability, however, does not persist during the remainder of the weekend. A forecast from MetSul Meteorologia indicates that the Easter weekend will have a predominance of sunshine in Rio Grande do Sul, although there will be clouds. The sun will appear in all regions and the atmosphere in the state will remain hot, which will keep the temperature high during the afternoon.

Both Saturday and Sunday should have afternoon highs close to and above 30ºC in a large number of places in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. On Saturday, the greatest warming occurs in the Western Border with up to 32ºC to 33ºC in the afternoon. On Sunday, the temperature rises more in the Northwest, in the valleys and in Greater Porto Alegre, where the maximum exceeds 30ºC.
