All locations are part of the 1st Health Region of the State

The third national shipment of dengue vaccines, made available by the Federal Government, will cover 20 municipalities in the state of Pernambuco. The information was made official this Thursday (28/03), through the Ministry of Health (MS). The list of benefiting locations includes the cities of Recife, Paulista, Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Vitória de Santo Antão, Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Igarassu, Camaragibe, Abreu e Lima, Olinda, Chã Grande, Araçoiaba, São Lourenço da Mata, Chã de Alegria , Moreno, Ilha de Itamaracá, Ipojuca, Glória do Goitá, Fernando de Noronha, Pombos and Itapissuma. The MS technical note stipulates that vaccinations will be sent in April, but the dates and division of quantities have not yet been defined.

The target audience for vaccination is children and adolescents between 10 and 14 years, 11 months and 29 days of age. The main objective of the strategy to expand the regions that will carry out vaccination in Brazil is to reduce cases of hospitalizations and deaths due to infections caused by dengue, in addition to ensuring more comprehensive access to the population. “Considering the logistical dynamics of vaccination, shipments of the third shipment will be informed by technical notes”, also adds this Thursday’s statement (28/03).

The Pernambuco State Immunization Program (PEI-PE) has been monitoring the definitions regarding the arrival of the immunobiological with the Ministry of Health and should hold, in the first week of April, alignment meetings with representatives of the municipalities covered. “We will continue to await new technical notes that will guide the logistical work for the arrival of vaccines in our state. We hope to carry out extensive partnership work with all the teams in these cities and we are committed to increasing awareness among the population about the importance of immunization in preventing diseases”, highlights the superintendent of PEI-PE, Jeane Tavares Torres.
