Globo presenter is fired after violating the broadcaster’s code of ethics

Danilo Scochi, presenter at EPTV Ribeirão Preto, an affiliate of TV Globo, was fired from the broadcaster after 17 years. The journalist, who was the anchor of the station’s main news program in the region, joined the MDB (Brazilian Democratic Movement) party at the beginning of April, while he was away due to a surgical procedure.

“Yes, I was fired. The reason is affiliation. According to them, it violated a rule of the company’s code of ethics. Regarding being a candidate or not, nothing is defined. This will happen in June, until the 30th is the deadline”, he told NaTelinha. “In fact, several things were added together. As I was never heard with the requests for recognition of the accumulation of functions, as I was against making entertainment for journalism, I started looking for a plan B. And the affiliation raised an issue of conflict of interest. And before anything else, I was disconnected”, said the former Globo presenter.

EPTV confirmed the dismissal of Danilo Scochi, who will be provisionally replaced by reporter Marcos Felipe in the EPTV2 presentation. “The EP Group, a media conglomerate present in the interior of São Paulo and the south of Minas, officially announces this Friday, April 26th, the departure of journalist Danilo Scochi, who worked at EPTV Ribeirão. From this moment on, reporter Marcos Felipe will temporarily assume presentation responsibilities, until new EPTV Ribeirão guidelines are defined,” said the broadcaster.
