BRASÍLIA — Eletrobras received at the beginning of this week (26/3) the operating license from Ibama, valid for 10 years, for the works of the Coxilha Negra Wind Farm, in the municipality of Santana do Livramento (RS), on the border with the Uruguay.

With investments of R$2 billion, the project has three wind farms with a total power of 302.4 MW, equivalent to the demand of 1.5 million consumers.

The license authorizes the operation of the Coxilha Negra 2 Wind Power Plant (UEC N-02), made up of 24 wind turbines with a unit power of 4.2 MW and a total power of 100.8 MW, as well as the associated transmission system.

It is the first new electricity generation project to obtain an operating license after the capitalization of Eletrobras.

To comply with Ibama’s requirements, the company claims to have carried out 25 environmental programs, with a total investment of R$9 million in actions to mitigate, prevent, monitor and compensate impacts.

Among the social projects are an artesian well in Vila Thomaz Albornoz, which guarantees drinking water for 120 inhabitants of the community and the new school that will be built in the Espinilho District, the region where the Coxilha Negra Wind Farm is located.
