The harvest of the first bean crop in the region with the highest production in Rio Grande do Sul, Campos de Cima da Serra, reached 15% of the cultivated area, as shown in the most recent Conjunctural Information released by Emater/RS-Ascar this Thursday (03/28). The majority of crops are in the maturation phase, representing around 60% of the total.

In the state as a whole, the harvest has already reached 70% of the cultivated area, with 20% of the beans ripe and ready for harvest, while 10% are still in the grain filling phase. The total cultivated area is estimated at 25,264 hectares, with an average productivity estimated at 1,930 kg/ha.

In the administrative region of Emater/RS-Ascar de Caxias do Sul, the main activity carried out during the week was desiccation in preparation for harvest. The expectation is that the harvest will intensify in the coming days and last until mid-April. The crop demonstrates high yield potential, and the average production is expected to be around 2,400 kg/ha.

However, in the Pelotas region, where the final phase of the harvest is underway, the rainfall that occurred on March 20 and 21 interrupted the harvesting process, even though it was carried out manually.
