Government launches Employment and Income Observatory

-

The Government of Goiás launches, this Thursday (28/03), the Employment and Income Observatory. The platform is an initiative of Goiás Social, through the Secretariat of Retomada, and aims to analyze data collected on the labor market, employment and income in the state.

Based on this research, reports will be issued on the current employability scenario in Goiás, as well as the economic reality. Materials will also be made available as a source of reliable information to guide public actions and policies aimed at work and employment.

The tool will have Fecomércio as an important partner, responsible for the process of informing labor market demands, as well as guiding the planning of labor professionalization policies. The Federal University of Goiás (UFG) will manage the platform’s data.

“We will be able to act more quickly and effectively in different situations in the labor market, such as seasonality in the agricultural segment and professionalization to serve the business and industrial sector”, explains the Secretary of State for Resumption, César Moura.

Employment and Income Observatory

The Employment and Income Observatory comes to add to the efforts of the Government of Goiás, which is already being highlighted nationally, with the highest historical GDP value of R$ 336.7 billion in 2023. With emphasis on industry, agriculture and services, the Figures predict a 4.4% growth in Goiás’ GDP, almost 60% higher than the national index. The data are from IBGE.

The employment record – 3.8 million people from Goiás working in 2023 – and the average income of families from Goiás that exceeded the national average are factors directly linked to the wealth produced in Goiás.

“And we can move forward. We currently have a labor shortage for around 30 thousand vacancies across the state, which are not occupied for various reasons. The observatory comes to help us find solutions”, adds César Moura.

New jobs

Goiás created 14,106 new jobs in February 2024, compared to the same period last year, a growth of 24.6%, according to data from the New General Register of Employed and Unemployed People (Novo Caged), released on Wednesday (27/ 03).

The number of admissions was 0.93% higher than the number of dismissals, leaving a positive balance and above the national average, which was 0.37%.

The data shows the continuation of an increasing trend seen in January, when Goiás concluded the first month of 2024 with a 59% increase in occupied vacancies compared to January 2023.

In total, there were 1.533 million people with a formal contract in the state. 14,926 jobs were created in the first month of the year. In January, the balance was 0.98% more admissions in relation to dismissals, while the national average was 0.40%. In total, there are 1.546 million people with a formal contract in the state.

For economist Luiz Ongaratto, compared to the 2023 scenario, the data shows that the Goiás economy is coming from a stable scenario and moving towards a warming one: “This stability demonstrates that growth is more robust and perennial. It wasn’t just a peak, a seasonality. This growth continues and is very interesting for Goiás”, he explains.
