The Brazilian Bar Association – Sergipe Section (OAB/SE) requested new measures in the investigation of the illegal leak of the confidential investigation regarding the complaint of sexual violence made by lawyer Bruna Hollanda. The request was made to the Civil Police Internal Affairs this Wednesday, 27th.

According to OAB/SE, the request was delivered to the general inspector of the Civil Police, delegate Érika Farias, during a meeting with the secretary general of the Order, Nilton Lacerda. Among the measures requested are the identification of data from users who accessed the survey, access to images from security cameras that monitor environments with police computers and verification of the identity of servers that printed the documents.

Also according to the Order, the Civil Police reported that an investigation had already been launched with the aim of investigating the leak, which exposed the victim and the accused. “It is necessary to identify and punish those responsible for the leak, respecting broad defense and due process. The fact exposed and harmed the parties, and OAB Sergipe will not accept this”, expressed Nilton Lacerda.

The secretary general of the OAB/SE also informed that the Order’s Privacy and Personal Data Protection Committee was responsible for preparing the opinion on the procedures. In addition, the body will be available to assist law enforcement authorities.

Understand the case

The case came to light on February 20th of this year, when information became public that a lawyer had filed a police report against a professional colleague for the crime of rape.

The crime would have occurred on January 27th, after a pre-carnival block in the Av. Beira Mar region, in Aracaju. According to initial information, the incident occurred in the suspect’s apartment, where he allegedly took his fellow lawyer after offering her a ride home. However, during the journey, the lawyer would have changed the route and taken her to his residence. There, he would have acted aggressively and committed the crime. In this ocasion, the OAB/SE said it quickly removed the lawyer suspected of committing the crime, and also provided assistance to the victim.

In a video released on March 19, lawyer Bruna Hollanda resigned from her position as OAB/SE counselor, revealed that he had not received any type of support and accused the institution of omission. Then it was the Order’s turn to speak, regretting the resignation and reaffirming support for the lawyer. The national OAB also took a stance and asked for a quick and rigorous investigation into the complaint.
