The annual wait for the results of “The World’s Best Hospitals 2024”, conducted by Statista in collaboration with the US magazine Newsweek, is an important moment for healthcare institutions around the world.

This research reveals the main hospitals, and this year, Brazil made its mark with 115 outstanding hospitals, including two in the state of Alagoas. Among them, Hospital Unimed de Maceió stands out, accredited by the National Accreditation Organization (ONA). The list of the best Brazilian hospitals has Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Maceió in 46th place and Hospital Unimed de Maceió in 98th place.

Around 48% of the national hospitals classified in this ranking are accredited by ONA, a private non-profit institution responsible for establishing and managing Brazilian quality and safety standards in healthcare. Currently, ONA is the third largest certifier in the world in terms of accreditation volume.

“It is very gratifying to see our institutions highlighted in the world ranking of the best hospitals in 2024. This demonstrates that we are on the right path to truly transform the healthcare sector and improve patient care. ONA undoubtedly plays a crucial role in this development continuous process through the accreditation process”, highlighted Fábio Leite Gastal, president of ONA.
