Young people playing in a futsal match at the Minas Gerais School Games (Jemg) in Divinópolis, in the Central-West region of Minas Gerais, were involved in a widespread fight last Friday afternoon (26). The Military Police were called and had to attend the sports hall where the game was being played and security for the next matches will be reinforced.
The confusion happened after a penalty shootout. Players from opposing teams began to argue after the goal and, at one point, one of the young men kicked the other. At this moment, a general fight involving more than 10 students takes place inside the court. The students in the stands scream and, at the end of the recording, it is possible to hear some singing ‘you’re going to die’. See the video:

In a statement, Divinópolis City Hall reported that a team from the Municipal Department of Sports and Youth (Semej) intervened quickly, controlled the situation and called the Military Police. The players involved in the confusion were removed from Poliesportivo. ‘We always value the respect of our athletes and we will continue campaigning so that this does not happen again. The Jemg took place calmly and with respect among the athletes and we will not let this single event tarnish the holding of the championship’, stated Mayor Gleidson Azevedo and vice-president, Janete Parecida.
The State Department of Education reported that the games continued normally this Saturday (27), including preventive security reinforcement, as the competition is in the final stages. The ministry vehemently repudiated the conduct of those involved and reinforced its commitment to promoting an environment of respect for competition. The Disciplinary Committee has not yet confirmed possible punishments.
