Bahia lost to Botafogo-PB 4 x 0 and ended the positive streak of five consecutive victories in the Copa do Nordeste. This Wednesday (27), Pipico, Pedro Ivo and Bruno Mota scored twice for the team from Paraíba. The Squadron finished the first phase with 18 points at the top of Group B.
In the post-game analysis, coach Rogério Ferreira assessed that the team managed to “balance” the match in the second half, but after the score was opened, the “emotional aspect” harmed the players’ performance. “The second goal ended up making all actions more difficult,” said the coach.
This was the under-20 team’s third match representing Bahia in official competitions. According to Ferreira, the performance in the games against Jequié and Atlético de Alagoinhas in the first rounds of Baianão were better. Even so, the coach was optimistic after the defeat.
“You always have to get something out of it […] We didn’t come to suffer defeat, but it will serve as a learning experience”, he said at a press conference.
In the Nordestão quarterfinals, Tricolor’s opponent will be Náutico – fourth place in Group B. In a single game, the match will be at Arena Fonte Nova on April 10th.
Before that, Bahia faces Vitória in the Campeonato Baiano on Sunday (31). The ball rolls at 4pm, in Barradão, for the first match of the State final.
