PF operation combats sexual abuse of children; 18 people are arrested

The Federal Police launched a nationwide operation this Wednesday (27) to combat sexual abuse of children. Under the guidance of the Coordination for the Suppression of Cybercrimes Related to Child and Youth Sexual Abuse, the action focuses, according to the PF, on identifying and arresting child abusers and rescuing victims.

59 search and seizure warrants were issued in 21 federative units: Acre (one), Alagoas (one), Amapá (one), Bahia (three), Ceará (two), Federal District (one), Espírito Santo (one), Maranhão (one), Minas Gerais (three), Mato Grosso (two), Pará (three), Paraíba (three), Pernambuco (two), Paraná (nine), Rio Grande do Norte (one), Rio de Janeiro (three ), Roraima (two), Rio Grande do Sul (nine), Santa Catarina (one), Sergipe (one) and São Paulo (nine).

“The operation is the result of information passed on by the police in Italy and Spain, which detected the occurrence of criminal practices. From then on, it was possible for the PF to continue the investigations, complying with precautionary measures in an operation throughout Brazil. In addition to the search and seizure warrants, 18 arrests were made as a result of the action,” the corporation said in a statement.

Those investigated, according to the PF, must answer for the crimes of storing and sharing child sexual abuse material and criminal association.
