The last days of March in Brazil will have an atmospheric dynamic typical of summer in Brazil with alternating sun and rain showers in most of the country. Even in the South, where the days have been of firm weather following the arrival of drier air following the passage of a cold front on the 20th, rain is expected to return to many areas.
The map above shows the rain projection until the end of March based on data from the German meteorological model Icon, available to subscribers (subscribe here) in our maps section. As can be seen, the rain tends to reach the five regions of Brazil, however it will present great variability in volumes.
The highest rainfall accumulated in Brazilian territory in these last days of March will be concentrated in the North and Central-West regions. Volumes can be high in isolated points mainly in the states of Amazonas, Mato Grosso and Goiás as a moisture channel operates between the North and Center of Brazil.
In Southeast Brazil, rain will be very variable in these last days of March. There will be places where there will be little or no rain, and others where the typical summer rain showers will continue to occur. Precipitation will occur more in the North of São Paulo, South of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.
Most of the Northeast of Brazil will have little rain in these last days of the month. Precipitation is more concentrated in the states of Maranhão and Piauí, as well as along the coastal strip. In parts of the coast between Alagoas and Rio Grande do Norte, the rain can sometimes be heavy.
In the south of Brazil, the rain in this final stretch of March will be quite irregular. Isolated rain showers are expected in the coming days, particularly on Friday and Sunday, but they will not reach all cities. There will be several points where it won’t even rain, especially in part of Santa Catarina and in more places in Paraná.
