The Amazonas Consumer Protection Institute (Procon-AM) charged, this Wednesday (27/03), a supermarket in the Petrópolis neighborhood, in the south zone of Manaus, for maintaining and selling food and cleaning products in an inappropriate manner. consumption. Procon-AM inspectors arrived at the store after complaints from the population. According to the team, at the scene, several food products such as sausages and ingredients for feijoada were found without mandatory refrigeration or with tampered packaging, as well as cleaning products that were out of date or with an illegible manufacturing date.
“We arrived at the location after receiving complaints from consumers, and found that the establishment was selling some food without adequate refrigeration and other products, such as cleaning products, were out of date. This material was seized and immediately destroyed, as it was unsuitable for consumption”, explained the head of inspection at Procon-AM, Pedro Malta.
According to him, the supermarket was fined for the irregularities identified. Violations are punishable by a fine.
“Unfortunately, this type of complaint is common and this worries us because it is also a public health issue. Therefore, it is important that we rely on complaints from the population, so that we can continue to combat these practices”, emphasized the CEO of Procon-AM, Jalil Fraxe.
