In Paraíba, the issuance of the new National Identity Card (CIN) is a service offered free of charge by the State Government, guaranteeing easy access to an essential document for all citizens. However, it is important to pay attention to the information on how to proceed in cases of undue payment of a second copy and request reimbursement, according to guidelines from the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Sesds).
Free CIN Issuance
The first copy of the National Identity Card (CIN) and the exchange from the old model to the new one are free throughout the state of Paraíba, as part of the public services offered to the population.
Only in cases of issuance of a second copy of the CIN are there fees established according to the values in force for the month of March, with the 2nd copy of the CIN without changing data being R$ 26.34 and the 2nd copy of the CIN with changing data being R$ 32, 93.
The documents required to issue the CIN include the Birth or Marriage Certificate (original document or certified copy), proof of residence, old identity (if available), and regularized and updated CPF.
Procedure for reimbursement for undue payment
In situations where the citizen makes the payment by mistake or misinformation, Sesds clarifies that it is possible to request reimbursement at the protocol sector of the Secretariat of Security and Social Defense, located in João Pessoa. New locations for this in-person service will be made available in other cities in the state.
