The Paraná Civil Police (PCPR) arrested two men, aged 58 and 81, and a woman, aged 45, for the crimes of falsifying therapeutic or medicinal products and illegal possession of a firearm. The action took place this Wednesday (24), in the Uberaba neighborhood, in Curitiba.

Four search and seizure warrants were executed at a pharmacy, a business, two residences and two vehicles belonging to those investigated.

Civil police officers seized several unsourced controlled medications, anabolic steroid ampoules, dietary supplements, unsourced cosmetics, blank medical prescription pads, and three cell phones. Additionally, a 357 revolver was found, with six rounds of ammunition intact, on the pharmacy’s medicine shelf.

According to PCPR delegate Aline Manzatto, investigations were initiated after the police team received an anonymous complaint reporting that the pharmacy was selling medication without origin.

“We found out that the employees there ended up selling the medications to the general public without showing a prescription, that is, the patient was probably using the medication without any type of medical supervision. These types of medications are controlled, black stripe or antibiotics, if not used correctly, can cause worsening of patients’ health, considering that many of them have psychotropic effects, cause drowsiness and decreased attention”, explains the delegate.

The two men and the woman were caught in the act and taken to the PCPR Police Station for the Suppression of Crimes Against Health for the appropriate procedures.

Those involved will face charges of falsifying medication, crime against consumer relations, criminal association and possession of a firearm. If convicted, the sentence exceeds 20 years in prison.
