Another cruise ship docked at the Port of Paranaguá. This Tuesday (26), it was the turn of Silver Wind, from the operator Royal Caribean. The vessel came from Balneário Camboriú (SC) and will head to Paraty (RJ).

On this trip, there was no boarding or disembarking: passengers only got off to take advantage of the packages already scheduled to learn about tourism in Paraná. Around 280 passengers, including Germans, Argentines, Canadians and Americans, went out in groups for jeep rides, in Morretes, or by train, in Antonina. Other groups visited cities such as Curitiba and Paranaguá.

“American and European ships are scheduling sporadic stops in the city of Paranaguá and this shows that the municipality knew how to welcome all these passengers”, highlighted the business director of Portos do Paraná, André Pioli. Silver Wind’s next trip to the Port of Paranaguá is scheduled for March 2025.

In March, the public company concluded its first cruise season, after receiving 15 calls from MSC Lirica and one from MSC Musica. The weekly dockings boosted the entire region’s economy, with the injection of more than R$25 million, according to Paranaguá City Hall.

The positive result of the first season provided new stops for the Coast: MSC confirmed that the city will be part of the 2024/2025 season and already has packages available on the internet. The cruise company also reserved dates for the Port of Paranaguá in the 2025/2026 season.

“The Paraná Coast has become one of the reference stops for cruise ships, enabling cruisers to discover the beauty of the beaches, cities and other attractions in the region, supplying our gastronomy, making our commerce go round. And that is the importance of these ships, generating jobs and income for the population through tourism”, emphasized Pioli.

GROWTH – Driven by the great program of Verão Maior Paraná and sea cruises, Paraná registered 2% growth in tourism in January this year, in comparison with December, according to data from the Monthly Services Survey (PMS), published on March 15th by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). It was the highest result in the South (Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina recorded declines of 6.2% and 1.1%, respectively) and was also above the national average, which fell 0.8% in the period.
