Bahia is writing a new chapter in its history in the Copa do Nordeste. With the victory over Maranhão last Sunday (25), Tricolor secured the overall leadership of the first phase with one round in advance and surpassed its best campaign in the current format of the competition, established in 2020.

So far, Bahia has 18 points in seven games, with five consecutive wins, one draw and one defeat. The goal difference is +7, the best in the competition. The team also boasts the longest unbeaten run of the tournament, with 10 games unbeaten.

In a press conference, coach Rogério Ceni praised the team’s “winning spirit” and valued the achievement of leadership in advance.
Comparison with 2016
The last time Bahia had a similar performance in the first phase was in 2016, when they won all six opening games and reached 18 points, with a difference of 10 goals.
Upcoming challenges
In the last round of the group stage, Bahia faces Botafogo-PB this Wednesday (28), at 9:30 pm, at Almeidão. From there, the team will know their opponent in the quarterfinals of the competition.
