Two agents from the FBI (United States Federal Department of Investigation) participated this Tuesday (26) in a seminar at the headquarters of the Executive Branch of Minas Gerais to discuss the use of intelligence in preventing crimes against public authorities.
Head of the Governor’s Military Office, Colonel Carlos Frederico Otoni Garcia, evaluated the seminar, which was attended by public security experts from other countries, as an opportunity to develop techniques and methods used in Minas Gerais.
“We understand that the ideal today is that we have the ability to foresee scenarios, to minimize risks for any authority. The objective is to be able to share information, bringing actors from different countries and states, so that they can share their experiences and knowledge. Today we have a wide range of technologies that help us enhance our risk management. By bringing people and companies that have other technologies, we can learn to use them to our advantage”, said Otoni to the Itatiaia report.
Agents Marco A. Gonzalez and Lane Christensen, from the FBI, presented a talk on “intelligence collection, analysis and sharing”. In addition to the North American police officers, the Secretary of Security of Minas Gerais, Rogério Greco, the Secretary of Public Security of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Santos, and other military commanders from the state also participated in the seminar.
Vice-governor Mateus Simões (Novo) opened the event and spoke about the importance of the credibility of security forces in maintaining the Democratic Rule of Law.
“Initiatives like this allow the meeting, not only of different angles of approach, but also the opportunity, the discussion of ways to move towards guaranteeing more structured security for government decisions”, he stated.
