ABOUT ECOA CIRCULAR

To face the worrying reality of solid waste disposal in Brazil, the glass sector, represented by Abividro (Brazilian Association of Glass Industries), created an education project on circular economy, aimed at Elementary II and Secondary education in the country, aiming to raise awareness young people about the importance of correctly disposing of waste generated by everyone, inside and outside the home.

The project entitled ECOA Circular aims to take the debate on the circular economy into the classroom, stimulating critical thinking, in a learning model based on design thinking, which leads students to develop practical solutions to the challenge of waste, transforming the daily practices of students and their communities. The lesson plan is aligned with the skills and abilities required in the BNCC (National Common Curricular Base).

The program consists of four stages: UNDERSTAND, through immersion in the topic and experiences that aim to connect the student with the issue of solid waste; DREAM, phase of discussion and improvement of ideas to solve the problem; CREATE, in which students will develop a prototype for the solution found; and SHARE learning, to inspire and engage more people in this discussion.

“The Ecoa Circular Project arose from the glass sector’s desire and concern to plant a seed of transformation. Sustainability, an intrinsic factor in the sector’s daily life, is the key to transforming our future, and there is no better way to ensure significant change than through education. We want to teach today, so that tomorrow is better. We need young people who are innovative and think about sustainable development, we want to see these new voices echo.”- Lucien Belmonte, executive president of Abividro.
