During this time, the businesswoman’s clinical condition worsened and she died upon arrival at another unit. The cause of death was listed as pulmonary fatty thromboembolism and obstructive shock.
The Civil Police of Goiás requested a cadaver examination to determine whether there was medical negligence on the part of the clinic. To date, the results of the exam have not been released. The case is investigated by the 4th DP of Goiânia.

What the doctor and hospital say
The doctor stated that the procedures carried out on Fábia Portilho “went uneventful”. In a note to UOLNelson Fernandes said that the businesswoman “did not express any complaints in her post-operative return consultation and her recovery was proceeding as expected”.
Fernandes said he attended to Fábia on Tuesday (7), until the family chose to transfer. “At no point did I stop providing assistance to the patient, always following the appropriate protocols and medical practices recommended by the Regional Council of Medicine and the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery. I am available to the family to provide any clarifications. Cherish their health and recovery of my patients is an absolute priority in my medical work, and Mrs. Fábia’s death saddens me deeply.”
