To begin with, Ozempic was developed with a purpose and became popular when it was used as a weight loss aid. In other words, the medicine from the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk was produced for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, but is used off label (outside the instructions on the leaflet) for weight loss.

As its main component is semaglutide, the effect is real, but at what cost? What would be its side effects?

One of the side effects of using Ozempic is sagging and the so-called “Ozempic head”, a term that is being used a lot on social media on the subject. A controversy even involved the singer Maiara, who has lost a lot of weight in recent months.

Many pages began to associate the singer’s weight loss with the use of Ozempic, as apparently in some photos, her head appeared to be bigger than her body. However, she never stated that she used the medicine.

Controversies aside, experts confirm that this side effect of the medication is indeed real, as this disproportionality of the head in relation to the rest of the body occurs due to the loss of muscle mass caused by rapid weight loss.

However, not everyone who uses Ozempic will get “Ozempic headache”, as this generally happens to people who are losing weight at a faster rate and, probably, without medical supervision.

However, when it comes to sagging, more regions of the body can be affected, as one of the side effects of Ozempic. Such as the abdomen, sides, thighs and glutes. Furthermore, even if a person in the process of losing weight uses Ozempic and tries to complement it with an exercise routine, they may suffer from the lack of energy that the medication brings.

Experts also explain that Ozempic, as well as other semaglutide-based medications, can bring even more side effects and harm your health. After all, many people are using the medicine without a prescription and medical supervision. Such effects can be: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, malaise, frequent headache, dehydration, gallstones and even difficulty eating.
