Prelude to Fury Road (2015), Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga opens on May 23 in Brazilian cinemas.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is one of the most anticipated films of the year, as it is a prequel to the acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). Fans are looking forward to the chapter in the franchise created by George Miller and the first reactions to the film with Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth promise another action spectacle at the cinema.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga tells the origin of Furiosa, with Anya Taylor-Joy playing the role of Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road. When the world collapses, young Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a horde of bikers led by Warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth). Wandering the doomed wasteland, they find the Citadel controlled by Immortan Joe. As the two tyrants fight for power and control, Furiosa will have to survive the challenges to find her way back home.

First Furiosa reactions highlight action epic unlike Mad Max: Fury Road

The first reactions to Furiosa appeared on social media, which are positive, and highlight a new action epic in the Mad Max franchise, further expanding this universe in cinema.

“George Miller’s Furiosa is powerful action cinema at its best! A fierce, relentlessly paced epic that expands the story of Furiosa and Wasteland while delivering the wildest chases, most bombastic characters, and simply stunning cinematography “highlighted Erik Davis, from Fandango. “Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth are equally immersed in Wasteland and both deliver amazing things… I love the Mad Max movies and I loved this movie. Start your engines!”he adds.

Overall, the reactions highlight that Furiosa is very different from Mad Max: Fury Road – which is not a problem, but a positive point in the action franchise.

“FURIOSA is not FURY ROAD, and that’s okay. It’s not trying to be. What it is is something singularly twisted and, yes, epic.”clarifies Josh Horowitz of Happy Sad Confused. “It operates on an extremely different rig from Stay of Fury (in ways that I suspect will frustrate some people), but it also manages to make the film even richer while creating its own desert legend.”explains David Ehrlich, IndieWire.

“I could and would easily watch 15 hours of Anya Taylor Joy and Alyla Browne as Furiosa, even though much of their film is inconsistently paced due to the segmented story. It doesn’t match the splendor of Fury Road, but it also isn’t necessary “says Collider’s Therese Lacson about some issues. “FURIOSA is a visceral triumph. An epic journey through Miller’s scorched wasteland that spans decades. The emotional journey is intimately personal and deeply moving. The action is fierce, savage and unrelenting. Hold on tight and prepare for the fury”teases Heroes Unbound.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premieres on May 23 in Brazilian cinemas.
