Governor postpones the validity of the decrees, and Fiergs says that additional revenue from fuel does not require a new adjustment

Governor Eduardo Leite announced yesterday (28) the postponement by 30 days of the entry into force of decrees with cuts in tax benefits. As a result, the measure, which aims to increase ICMS collection, will come into force at the beginning of May. During this period, the governor wants to negotiate with business entities a proposal raising ICMS from 17% to 19%, as proposed by 24 entities linked to agribusiness. The Federation of Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Sul informed the State Government and the president of the Legislative Assembly, deputy Adolfo Brito, that the effective ICMS rates on fuels already exceed the limits established in Complementary Laws 192 and 194. According to Fiergs, the tax increase will generate an additional R$2.5 billion per year for the government of Rio Grande do Sul, which deflates the argument for a new tax increase.
