Anxious? As of this Wednesday (24), there are exactly 10 days left until Madonna’s long-awaited show on Copacabana Beach. Rio will be the only city in South America to host the acclaimed tour “The Celebration“.

This will be Madonna’s fourth visit to shows in Brazil and the public will also be able to watch the performance live on Globo, Multishow and globoplay. While that day doesn’t come, gshow starts a countdown on the pop diva today.

So, below, see 10 memorable moments from his career:

1. The first (explosive) marriage to Sean Penn

In 1989, Madonna married then-actor Sean Penn. Both were known for their strong tempers and there was no other way. Rumors about explosive fights between the two soon appeared in the news. The sensationalist press even spoke of episodes of physical violence, but Madonna denies such reports to this day.

Still, the marriage ended in 1989. Madonna moved on, married film director Guy Ritchie and Sean Penn also moved on with his own life, marrying actress Robin Wright and had two children. Madonna is currently dating boxing trainer Josh Popper and Penn has been seen with Ukrainian actress and model Olga Korotyayeva.

The two seem to be great friends. In 2016, they even joked that they would “get married again to raise funds” to help one of the charities that Madonna is in charge of. All in jest, of course. But where there is smoke…

2. The first ass in pop history

In 1984, the North American MTV presented the first edition of the Video Music Awards (VMA), the award for the artists who stood out most in music that year. Madonna was in heavy rotation on the radio with “Like a Virgin”, the track that gave the title of her second album.

Madonna appeared on stage in the wedding dress that illustrates the album cover. The stage for the presentation featured a gigantic wedding cake. When going down the set steps, Madonna lost one of the shoes she was wearing. She herself told presenter Jimmy Fallon that she tried to “disguise” it by inventing a choreography in which she dragged herself across the stage to try to reach her lost shoe.

The problem is that the movements ended up lifting the skirt of her dress and her panties appeared. “Unlike today, back then, those who wanted to be successful didn’t show their ass,” joked Madonna.

The fact is that her visible butt left her manager infuriated. Madonna says that, upon leaving the stage, her manager prophesied: “Your career has just ended”. Little fool.

3. The first success in cinema

The film “Desperately Seeking Susan” (1985), directed by Susan Seidelman, featured Madonna in the title role. She played a free, irreverent, fun and, of course, rebellious girl. Her antagonist was a beautiful, modest and homely woman, played by Rosana Arquette.

Even though it was Madonna’s second film, it was from this film that Madonna would really begin to invest in cinema as one of her artistic expressions.

Even though she hasn’t gained much recognition as an actress, Madonna remains passionate about the big screen. In 2012, she debuted as director of “WE – The novel of the century”. The film tells the story of the love affair between King Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne to marry American actress Wallis Simpson in 1936.

Snubbed by critics, she doesn’t give up easily. After the “Celebration Tour”, Madonna will dedicate herself to writing and directing her own biopic. Let us pray.

Well, even though the world of cinema tries to avoid Madonna, she isn’t exactly known for giving up. The artist remains close to Hollywood and made her post-Oscar party one of the most popular in Los Angeles, rivaling the traditional post-Oscar celebration of “Vanity Fair” magazine.

But in 1991 Madonna was one of the stars of the party itself. She sang “Sooner or Later” by the father of musicals, Steven Sondheim. The track is part of the soundtrack for the film “Dick Tracy”, in which she starred alongside her then-boyfriend, actor Warren Beatty.

But it wasn’t just the performance that shook up the night. Madonna took none other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, as her date to the party. She caught the attention of all the photographers and graced the covers of the main celebrity magazines that year. There’s something that Madonna knows how to do like few others: a triumphal entrance.

5. Antonio Banderas’ stump

Before the advent of social media, Madonna was already exercising overexposure, transforming her own life into a spectacle to be watched by fans and haters. A good example is in the film “In bed with Madonna” (1991).

In the documentary that chronicles the behind-the-scenes of the “Blond Ambition” tour, the blonde reports all her excitement when she discovered that she would be introduced to Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, who at that time was on the rise due to films such as “Women on the verge of a heart attack”. nerves” and “Ata-me”, both by Pedro Almodóvar, who had organized the dinner.

Upon arriving at the event, Madonna was surprised to discover that Banderas was married to actress Ana Leza, his first wife.

The blonde was devastated. In the scenes that follow, we can see Madonna wanting to stick her head in the toilet, ashamed of having placed her hopes in a relationship with very little chance of coming true. Who never?

Rumor has it that Madonna has had homosexual relationships. Nothing has been officially confirmed, even though the diva is one of the biggest defenders of the rights and freedom of expression of the LGBTQIA+ population. So much so that she shared one of the biggest kisses in pop history at the 2003 VMAs.

In reference to the historic 1985 performance, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera entered the stage dressed as brides, singing “Like a Virgin”. And Madonna appeared in a masculine tuxedo, à la Marlene Dietrich, singing “Hollywood”.

At the end of the dance, Madonna kissed Britney and Christina on the lips. Whenever someone asks Madge what she thinks of Britney, she doesn’t blink and says: “Kiss well”.

7. Get up, dust yourself off, get back on your feet!

In 2015, Madonna suffered one of the biggest blows of her career. It was during the British Music Awards, at which she performed the track “Living for Love”. She entered the stage wearing an Armani cape that was tied around her neck in a light knot.

The choreography called for the dancers to pull Madonna’s cape, revealing her bullfighter look underneath. But the pop star was unable to undo the knot in time and ended up being violently pulled to the ground.

Everyone was scared. It was a sp-ta-cu-lar establishment.

Well, she didn’t ask for it. She got up and started singing again. Interestingly, the lyrics of the song seemed to refer precisely to the episode. The line “I’m gonna carry on”, loosely translated as “I’m going to continue”, gained a new layer of meaning that night. As they say in the dance world: “Did you fall? Get up!”

Madonna married film director Guy Ritche in 2000. The union lasted eight years and produced two children. What many people noticed throughout this period is that Madonna became something of an English lady. Some say that even her accent has changed.

In 2015, the pop star told The Sun newspaper that she felt “trapped” in her marriage. “I couldn’t be myself,” she claimed.

Madonna released the album “Hard Candy” (2008) around the same time as the divorce settlement. Not by chance, the album cover features the bold Madonna that we are used to seeing. The “Candy Shop” tour came to Brazil that year. In December, Madonna was already walking back and forth with a certain dark-skinned, light-eyed Rio native named after a prophet.

Madonna knows a few words in Portuguese. Among them, the adjective “hot”. Judging by the Rio accent she uses when pronouncing “goxtosa”, there are those who swear that she learned the word from Jesus Luz, her boyfriend between 2008 and 2010.

Nobody confirms. Jesus was always very elegant when talking about his ex-girlfriend, avoiding any indiscretion. However, the relationship with the Rio native paid off a lot for both of them. Jesus became a notorious character among Brazilian celebrities, which boosted his career as a DJ, model and actor.

On the other hand, Madonna composed the track “Celebration” supposedly inspired by her first meeting with the boy, at the Hotel Fasano, the day after the photo session in which they met.

Although no one confirms it, the track that gives the current tour its title has a music video starring none other than Jesus himself. He doesn’t have another ex-boyfriend with such morals in the blonde’s life. Carioca, right, mores?

10. The first show in Brazil

The tenth item of this first text to warm up Madonna’s arrival in Rio could not end without remembering the pop star’s first time in these parts. It was in 1994. Madonna released the album “Erotica”, one of the most significant and relevant in her entire discography.

Madonna shook the country’s structures. She brought together 120,000 people at Maracanã (pre-renovation in 2016, which reduced the stadium’s capacity to just over 70,000 people) and made history by calling everyone a “dirty ass”. What will she call us on the 4th?
