Updated coronavirus vaccines should arrive in Londrina next week – CBN Londrina

The municipal secretary of Health, Felippe Machado, confirmed, in a press conference this Friday (10), that the updated vaccines against coronavirus should be sent to Londrina next Monday (13). Of the 136,800 units received by Paraná, 6,700 will come to the city. These are doses of the monovalent Spikevax vaccine from the Moderna laboratory, which has been updated to protect against the Ômicron XBB 1.5 subvariant.

The new vaccine had its registration approved by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) in March and will gradually replace all vaccines against Covid-19 that were being used until now. Following the determination of the National Immunization Program (PNI), the doses can be applied to the so-called risk groups for the disease: babies from six months of age and children under five years of age, the elderly, immunosuppressed, people with comorbidities or permanent disabilities, pregnant and postpartum women, indigenous people, riverside dwellers and quilombolas, people deprived of liberty and health workers.

Felippe Machado also spoke about the problems registered at the Pronto Atendimento Infantil (PAI), which, in the last week, has experienced chaotic periods, with the arrest of mothers who complained about the delay in caring for their children and employees claiming to be afraid to work. In recent days, the secretary followed the night shifts and came to some conclusions. According to him, the increase in the flow of care is related to the high rate of children returning and also to the explosion of dengue cases and respiratory diseases. More than 60% of consultations provided at PAI, according to the secretary, concern these types of viruses.
