Mother and daughter are living in Mc Donalds in Leblon
The two women who have been “living” for three months in a Mc Donalds in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, were outraged by the repercussion of the case. In an interview with TV Globo, one of them asked people not to interfere in their lives.

I can’t understand how this snowballed,” said Suzy, who is living next to her daughter (Bruna) in the restaurant located in one of the most upscale neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro.
According to the women, aged 64 and 31, they are looking for an apartment while they live in Mc Donalds and on the streets of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
“If it had been a person with dark skin, with little clothing, with little suitcase, it wouldn’t have aroused curiosity”, said the youngest.
The story
Carrying five suitcases in good condition, women from Rio Grande do Sul stay inside the establishment during opening hours, from 10am to 5am. When the place closes in the early hours of the morning, they go to the sidewalk to sleep.
Both, so far, have refused any type of help from residents, business owners and public authorities in the region.
To CBN, the women told that they are looking for a property with rent of up to R$1,200 in the region to get off the streets. They also said that they are waiting for Suzy’s husband to arrive from Paris, France, to live in a more dignified way.
A man, however, revealed that the two women are known for defaulting on accommodations. “I know them from the history (of the place) where I worked, a hotel in Copacabana. They stayed there and didn’t pay for their accommodation, in 2022. They don’t accept help, they’re very harsh, they don’t open up. They’re walking down the street, wandering around. They stay here and there, and they don’t have a fixed location,” the seller told CBN.
According to the Civil Police, mother and daughter have three reports of defaults in hotels in Copacabana – the complaints took place in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
