A 32-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son were found dead inside their home on Monday night (6), in São Francisco, in the North of Minas Gerais. The bodies were decomposed and were released from the Legal Medical Institute (IML) this Tuesday (7).

The neighbors, alarmed by a strong odor coming from the house, called the Military Police (PM). At the scene, the soldiers forced the garage door open and managed to break into the back doors. They then found the two victims hanging from ropes on the roof rafters. The bodies were already in a state of decomposition.

The victim’s family informed the PM that the woman suffered from depression and had not been seen for four days.

A Civil Police expert was at the scene and preliminarily found that there were signs that the woman had administered intravenous medication to the child to sedate him, and then hung him on the rope. Then she took her own life.

In the property, medicine packaging, intravenous tubes, syringes, paper with traces of blood were found, as well as a pendrive and a notebook with a handwritten text.

The circumstances of the death are still being investigated by the Civil Police, who are working on the hypothesis that the woman killed her son and then committed suicide. A criminal investigation was carried out at the scene and the materials found will be analyzed to assist in the investigation.
