Recovered from Covid-19, Alckmin is released to return to in-person work

The Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB)has recovered from Covid-19 and has been cleared by doctors to return to in-person work.

The information was released this Tuesday morning (2) by the former governor of São Paulo. According to the note, Alckmin underwent medical reevaluation and has recovered from the illness.

Also according to the vice-president’s advice, Alckmin will fulfill his schedule, starting at 2 pm, at the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC). So far, his commitments have not been officially announced.

On Sunday night (31), Alckmin’s office informed that he had been diagnosed with Covid-19. The vice president had mild symptoms and remained at home until he was cleared by doctors.

It was the second time that Alckmin was diagnosed with Covid-19. He had already been infected by the new coronavirus in 2022, which prevented him from participating, in person, in the official launch of the ticket with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)who would run for Presidency of the Republic.

A doctor by training, specializing in anesthesiology and acupuncture, Geraldo Alckmin administered the fifth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to Lula, last year.

The last official appointment of the Vice President of the Republic was on Wednesday last week (March 27th), at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), in the capital of São Paulo.

Alckmin participated in the Brazil-France Economic Forum, an event whose guest of honor was the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. The French leader arrived at the location accompanied by Alckmin and spoke shortly after the Brazilian vice-president’s speech.
