‘A natural Aquarian’, MC Saci talks about Chico Moedas’ reaction to the song and celebrates success: ‘Income increased 100 times’

When he released “Aquariano nato” in July 2023, MC Saci never imagined that the song would become the soundtrack for Chico Moedas, when he betrayed Luísa Sonza at the end of last year. Images gathered of the financial investor smoking, drinking or enjoying the night went viral on social media accompanied by verses from the funk singer from São Gonçalo, who guarantees he had nothing to do with it.

– I got a fright. I thought: “The guy is going to go crazy with me” (laughs). I immediately sent a private message on Instagram to explain myself and Chico was very nice. He knew I hadn’t done anything wrong — says Saci, 29 years old.

The song quickly reached the top of the music streaming charts. And the hit earned the nickname “Edit do Chico Moedas” (a term used for videos that bring together different images of the same person). Then came a pop.

— I understood that I needed to surf this wave, or it would go to someone else. At the same time, she was releasing other songs, already planned. But I immediately made a playlist with the name “Edit do Chico Moedas”, due to the searches, and included my work.

In Spotify’s top 50, for example, the singer has already charted four other songs since then. The show schedule has also become busier: there are now 15 to 20 per month. There will even be music at the Euro Cup. And he recently tried another trick. He released exactly the song with the name “Edit do Chico Moedas” in the title. I even wanted the heartthrob in the video, but he refused.

— I sent him the music guide. He’s a bit quiet, but he said it turned out cool. Chico is from Rio, Flamengo fan, good people. He’s just not an Aquarius. He’s a Taurus — he says, laughing.

Speaking like this, it seems that José Elias, MC Saci’s given name, is all about astrology. What nothing! He took phrases that his grandmother said to compose them.

— Now I’m learning more. Fans are asking me to do songs about the 12 signs. I am an Aquarius, with an Aquarius ascendant. I was born on the same day as Neymar. And I was living this natural phase of the sign.

By this he means that the born Aquarius means the detached one. And if you follow the lyrics of the song itself to the letter, you also have a predilection for casual sex. Father of two children (Nicoly, 10 years old, and Matias, four months old), with different mothers, Saci says he has calmed down. He is even living a “low profile” romance (without posting anything).

— When I realized that my daughter was starting to listen to my songs, I stopped putting swear words in the lyrics. Of course, in regional work, I still have a “forbidden” version, because I also need to maintain the audience I have conquered.

Born in Complexo do Salgueiro, MC Saci has dedicated himself to music exclusively since 2016. He resigned from his job as a car aligner when he earned his first salary.

— I said that if I earned a thousand reais I would resign. I won R$500 and went anyway. Friends from work at the time send me messages congratulating me. Play a movie in your head.

He only began to experience the taste of success five years ago when he moved to Belo Horizonte. Moving to the capital of Minas Gerais was a great experience.

— Funk in Rio de Janeiro has several aspects. In Minas, the state follows one trend at a time. In my homeland, I was losing space. I like the slower beats. My songs grew faster in BH and I stayed. That’s why they think I’m a miner, but I’m not.

In addition to the shows, Saci founded his own production company, Complexo dos Hits, and manages the careers of other artists. The money she earned from her national success has been used to invest in the business.

— My income increased more than 100 times. I’m thinking about changing my house and car, but I’m not in a hurry. I already live in a comfortable place, I have my pool. It was never my focus to spend money.
