With advanced cancer, actress from Barrados no Baile donates her belongings

Last Monday (1st), Shannen Doherty admitted that she is getting rid of her belongings as she faces treatment for advanced stage breast cancer. In June 2023, the actress from Barrados no Baile confirmed the diagnosis that had spread to her bones.

On her Let’s Be Clear podcast, the artist reported that she chose to donate and sell her things to “make things easier” for her mother, Rosa Doherty.

“My priority at the moment is my mother. I know it will be difficult for her if I pass away before her (…) As it will be so difficult for her, I want other things to be much easier. I don’t want her to have a lot of things to deal with. I don’t want her to have four warehouses full of furniture”, he said.

“I don’t need it, it doesn’t really bring me much joy, but what brings me a lot of joy is taking my mom to the places she’s always wanted to go,” she said. “I understand to build different memories – I can build memories with the people I love. I’m not touching the money in my estate that will ensure everyone in my life is taken care of,” she added.

“It feels like you’re giving up something that was very special and important to you (…) But you know it’s the right thing to do and that it will give you a feeling of peace and calm. Because you’re helping the people you care about. leaves behind having an easier transition (…) I know it will never be easy for the people in my life, but maybe it’s more a question of ease for me”, he pointed out.

“I’m not taking advantage and others are not taking advantage, and do I really need this? Do I need three dinner tables?” she said. “The answer is no, none of us really need all the things we have, and we could all do with downsizing a little and not become hoarders, which is what I was doing with all my furniture,” she concluded.

In 2015, Shannen Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent brain surgery and radiation therapy in January 2023. After it spread to her bones, her outlook is “another 3 to 5 years of life.”
