Shakira gives her opinion on “Barbie” and says her children hated Greta Gerwig’s film

In an interview with Allure magazine, which covers the month of April, singer Shakira stated that she watched the film “Barbie” with her children Milan and Sasha. However, Greta Gerwig’s production, with a feminist bias, ended up not being very pleasing to the trio.

“My kids hated the movie so much. They felt it was emasculating. And I agree, to a certain extent. I am raising two boys. I want them to feel powerful while respecting women,” said the star.

“I like pop culture when it empowers women without robbing men of the ability to be men, protectors and providers. I believe that we can give women all the tools and trust that we can do everything without losing our essence, without our femininity”, she continued.

“I think men have a purpose in society, just as women also have their purpose. We complement each other, and that complement cannot be lost.”

Currently, Shakira is releasing the album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” (2024), a project in which she expunges pain and exposes the betrayals that led to the end of her marriage with player Gerard Piqué.

“Barbie”, in turn, received 8 Oscar nominations, including the Best Original Song category, for “I’m Just Ken”. The track was performed during the delivery ceremony by actor Ryan Gosling, one of the protagonists of the plot.
