Born on April 1, 1949, Ana Maria Braga turns 75 this Monday (1st). With a career full of success, the presenter managed to remain relevant throughout her 50 years on Brazilian television. However, another impressive fact in Ana Maria’s life is that she has already received four cancer diagnoses and he was cured of them all. Remember.
In 1991, the presenter received the first diagnosis, she had skin cancer. “I already had skin cancer. At the time in Italy she sunbathed a lot, she was abused a lot. Today I pay the price for this sun I took”, she stated in a report on “Mais Você”.
Ten years later, in 2001, Ana Maria was diagnosed with cancer in the rectum and groin. At the time, she even took time off from the morning show “Mais Você” to undergo treatment. The presenter returned talking about the disease this Sunday (31) in a report by Fantástico. “By the time I managed to find out what I had, he was already ahead of schedule. And then I had a minimal chance of survival. So, it’s very scary,” he said at the time.
The third diagnosis came in 2015 such as lung cancer. Ana Maria underwent surgery to remove the tumor in the same year and talked about the process during “Mais Você”. “In September, I was unsure whether to speak, because she was very weak. I preferred to be stronger, to be well to speak as a warning to everyone who wants to live longer and healthier,” she said.
On the occasion, she took the opportunity to raise awareness among the population about the risks of smoking. “’In addition to being a powerful drug, it can kill people. And stopping is much more difficult, because people are dependent. I smoked for many years and stopped this year under terrible circumstances. I needed help, I’m not made of iron, I have problems like anyone else. I took medicine to stop smoking, I use patches. I mistreated myself a lot. It’s a price I pay.”
Five years later, Lung Cancer returned with metastasis, meaning it had spread to other parts of the body. To treat it, Ana Maria underwent surgery, radiotherapy and immunotherapy and managed to cure herself of the disease.
