Claudia Raia recalled an attempted abuse she suffered when she was just 13 years old. The actress had won a scholarship and went to New York, in the United States, to study ballet. She stayed at the house of a choreographer who was a teacher at her mother’s academy and trusted by her, but it was precisely this man who tried to grab her.

“After almost a month and a half there, he attacked me. He tried to grab me and I threw a crystal owl at his head”, recalled the actress in an interview with Tati Bernardi, on the “Sorry Something” podcast.

Actress will return to prime time TV

The actress, now 57 years old, said that at that moment she didn’t think about anything else, she just grabbed her clothes and what she saw in front of her and ran away. At the time, the man’s wife lived in the house, but at the time of the attempted abuse she was walking with the couple’s daughter. The artist reported that her quick defense was due to the guidance she always heard from her own mother.

“My mother always taught me: if someone comes close to you or catches you, grab whatever is next to you and hit them in the head,” he said. Claudia recalled that she walked alone through the streets of Harlem, without knowing anyone, but she was lucky that a teacher passed by and saw her crying near a store in the area. From then on, she lived with the girl and shared an apartment with three other people, until her mother could travel to help her.
