Apple boss will donate to help victims of the rains in RS; know value

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced this Wednesday (8), through social media, that the company will continue to help victims of the heavy rains that hit Rio Grande do Sul (RS).

“Our hearts are with the people affected by the devastating and tragic floods in Brazil. Apple will donate to local relief efforts,” she posted.

The company disclosed the value of the donation, which has already occurred in similar tragedies. It is estimated to be US$1 million, that is, more than R$5 million. The number of deaths due to the rains in (RS) reached 100, according to balance released by Civil Defense this Wednesday morning (8). According to the agency, 128 people are missing.

In the 417 affected municipalities, there are 372 injured, 66,761 people in shelters, 163,720 homeless and, in total, 1,456,820 people were affected by the floods. Civil Defense continues to investigate four other deaths.

How to help?

According to authorities, homeless and displaced people who were welcomed by Civil Defense need not only food, but also mattresses, bed and bath linen and blankets. Anyone who lives in the Porto Alegre region can contribute in person at the State Civil Defense Logistics Center (Avenida Joaquim Porto Villanova, 101, Jardim Carvalho neighborhood, Porto Alegre).

In addition to receiving donations of various items, authorities allow donations of any type of cash value. To allow people from other cities and states to collaborate, the State Government created a Pix key to receive donations. Anyone who wants to contribute can make a Pix to CNPJ 92958800000138.
