The Brazilian automotive market presents the best first four months since 2014. According to data from the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave), in the first four months of the year, no less than 1,411,139 vehicles were registered in the general market.

The absolute number is just not more impressive than the percentage increase. The relationship between January and April 2024 for the same period last year showed an exponential growth of 20.04%. In 2023, there were 1,175,588 registrations in the first four months. Furthermore, practically all data is in the black.

“We started 2024 confident in sustained growth and this first four months confirms our expectations. The more favorable moment for credit and more contained interest rates continue to be a drag on the sector, especially the automobile and light commercial vehicle market”, says Andreta Jr., president of Fenabrave.

In April, there were 410,530 registrations, an increase of 14.41% compared to March (358,780) and a significant 38.30% compared to the same month last year (296,831).

Among light vehicles, there were 208,078 registrations in April, an increase of 18.24% compared to March (175,975) and 37.1% (151,699) compared to the same month in 2023. Accumulated, the growth was 17.49% (691,370 versus 588,453).

Trucks and buses have not presented such positive data for a long time. In April, there were 12,735 registrations, an increase of 8.48% compared to March (11,740) and 42.16% compared to the same month in 2023 (8,958). Accumulated, growth of 0.39% (43,942 against 43,773).

Motorcycles increased by 11.52% from April to March (170,252 and 152,667) and 40.82% for the same period last year (120,904). In the first four months, 602,534 motorcycles were registered, an increase of 26.07% compared to 2023 (477,951).
