According to G1, the failure was detected in the filling process of the Apple Flavored Soy Food (Lot AGB 25) filled in the TBA3G equipment on 02/25/2013 with validity until 12/22/2013.

More details, revealed by Veja.abril, revealed that everything happened after a feed tank that had a low stock started the automatic cleaning process.

Soon after, the filling device was activated by an employee and the packages received the substance.

In a note, Unilever reaffirmed that the quality problem “limited to 96 units of Ades apple flavor, 1.5 liters, batch AGB25, produced on the TBA3G line at the Pouso Alegre factory”.

“All other Ades products not corresponding to lots with initials AG will remain on the market, being in perfect condition for consumption”, Unilever said at the time.

Finally, the company also asked “We apologize to our consumers and customers for the episode and declare once again our commitment to the quality of Ades, one of the most beloved brands in Brazil”.

Current situation

Since Anvisa identified the issue, Ades has not been involved in any further incidents related to its products.

Unilever took responsibility for assisting all people affected by product contamination and issued an official apology. Currently, the juice brand is owned by Coca-Cola.

Anvisa, the National Health Surveillance Agency, is responsible for monitoring various aspects related to public health in Brazil.

This includes the regulation and control of products and services that impact health, such as medicines, food, cosmetics, hygiene products, sanitizers, blood and blood products, among others.
