O BYD Dolphin Mini reached 3,143 units sold in April according to data from Renavam (National Registry of Motor Vehicles). It’s another record for the electric hatch launched in March for a suggested price that starts at R$115,800.
With this level of sales, the Chinese brand’s model has already surpassed the volume of vehicle registrations Citroën C3 It is Peugeot 208 combined, which stood at 3,009 units in the month.

The saga of the BYD Dolphin Mini continues and based on what it managed to achieve in sales in April, it was also enough to surpass other traditional models in the Brazilian market, such as sedans Toyota Corolla (3.104) and Volkswagen Virtus (2,456). The saga of Chinese brands continues
In seventh place among the Chinese was Caoa Chery Tiggo 8 (697), followed by GMW Ora 03 (672) and the electric sedan with a coupe look BYD Seal (283). The BYD Dolphin Mini will be one of the models that the Chinese brand will manufacture in Camaçari (BA). There will be three factories on site with the initial project of making 150,000 units per year in the first phase, possibly doubling later.
One of them will make cars, starting with the Dolphin, an electric compact that, imported, currently costs around R$150,000. The Song Plus hybrid SUV is another model that will be made in Bahia. R$5.5 million will be invested to speed up the works and soon have the first cars produced in Bahia.
BYD management also announced the construction of five residential buildings, which will be used for factory employees, in an area of approximately 81 thousand m² and will have the capacity to house 4,230 people. The manufacturer also says that it will generate 10,000 jobs with the new factory and that by the end of 2024, the first BYD vehicles will begin to be assembled.
