Argenta brothers, from SIM stations, promote change in business and project billion-dollar jump in revenue

Founding partners of the SIM companies, which had revenues of R$15 billion last year and have 5,500 employees, the brothers Neco and Deunir Argenta announce changes in the business after 38 years of history. The news was revealed this Thursday (25), at a dinner for guests at the Luiz Argenta winery, which belongs to the family and is located in Flores da Cunha.

From now on, the business group based in Serra Gaúcha will no longer have the same name with which it became popular through the gas station network and will adopt its own identity. The Argenta Group was then born, which projects revenues of R$18 billion for this year and R$20 billion for 2025. The companies will keep their current names.

Along with the group’s new brand, which is one of the largest in the country in the fuels and lubricants segment, the new business positioning was presented, highlighting that it is “always on the move for a better world”. During dinner, Deunir Argenta revealed that he is slowly starting to move away from the business and that his children are already working in the group. “After almost 40 years, I want to take a vacation,” he joked.

Stations with the Petronas flag

According to the president of the Argenta Group, Neco Argenta, the change symbolizes “the consolidation of our position as an ecosystem of companies. We are experts in what we do and we want to go much further”, he stated, adding that this year Argenta will begin to implement in Brazil has the first positions under the Petronas flag, which is one of the most valuable brands in the world.

Almost a third of the fuel sold in Rio Grande do Sul passes through a company in the Argenta group. According to Neco, last year companies moved no less than 3 billion liters of fuel and 10 million liters of lubricants. The main companies are SIM gas station network and SIM fuel distributor. These two earned just over R$11 billion in 2023.

The gas station network has 184 units in more than 70 cities in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná and São Paulo. It is considered the largest retail network of gas stations and convenience stores in the country. Combined, SIM stations are expected to earn R$6.3 billion this year.

The fuel distributor was born in 2018, is headquartered in Esteio and currently has 16 operating bases in Rio Grande do Sul. There are also operations in Santa Catarina, Paraná and São Paulo. It is among the ten largest distributors in Brazil and, in March of this year alone, it sold 136 million liters of fuel. Revenue for 2024 is projected at R$7.6 billion.

Companies that are part of the Argenta Group

• SIM Station Network – There are 184 units in 70 cities in RS, SC, PR and SP. It earned R$5.2 billion in 2023.
• SIM Fuel Distributor – It has 16 operating bases in RS, but also operates in SC, PR and SP. It earned R$6.2 billion in 2023.
• Distributor Plow – Based in Esteio, it was purchased in 2022 by the group. It has six operation bases, in addition to 340 flagged posts. It earned R$2.2 billion in 2023.
• Querodiesel – Based in Canoas, the company was also purchased in 2022. It is a leader in the market called TRR, that is, transporter-reseller-retailer. It has 11 operating bases and one more under construction. It earned R$1.3 billion in 2023.
• YES Lubricants – He is an official Petronas dealer in Brazil. Last year it sold 8 million liters of lubricants and earned R$200 million.
• YES Aviation – It is a partner of the giant AirBP in airports in the Central-West and South regions of Brazil. It sold 3.5 million liters of aviation fuel in 2023.
• Vital – It is considered the only re-refiner in southern Brazil. Collects used or contaminated lubricating oil and reuses it in the manufacture of reuse oil. It earned around R$100 million in 2023.
• A27 – Digital company created to operate financial transitions between group companies and corporate clients (B2B). Last year there were 70 thousand transactions, which generated R$3 billion.
• Luiz Argenta Winery – It is located in Flores da Cunha, on the land where the first vines in that region were planted, more than a century ago. The name is a tribute to the father of brothers Neco and Deunir Argenta, who died before turning 60.
