Universal Pictures has released a new poster and trailer for “Despicable Me 4”, the sixth film (counting two “Minions”) of the most profitable animation franchise of all time. The preview highlights the transformation of minions into superminions, thanks to a secret experiment.

The video also gives ample space to Gru’s daughters and the current supervillains, but forgets Gru and Lucy’s baby, which was the main theme of the previous trailer.

The Illumination studio continues to lead the production, which will once again feature the return of the original voice cast, which includes Steve Carell as Gru, Kristen Wiig as Lucy, Miranda Cosgrove as little Margo and director Pierre Coffin as the various minions. Coffin, however, does not direct the new film. The role falls to his partner in the first two features, Chris Renaud, who returns for the fourth part with co-director Patrick Delage, a newcomer to the role, but the main animator of Gru’s initial features.

The script, in turn, was written by Mike White, who joins the franchise after successfully launching the series “The White Lotus” on HBO Max. He also wrote the popular Afternoon Session “Escola de Rock”, in addition to ” Patos!”, the studio’s latest animated release.

The new voice cast includes Will Ferrell (“Barbie”) as the villain Maxine le Mal and Sofia Vergara (“Griselda”) as his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina.

The premiere is scheduled for July 4th in Brazil, one day after the launch in the USA.
