Swiss giant promises Lula to invest R$3 billion in SC port

Terminal Investment Limited (TIL), one of the largest container operators in the world, which is part of the Swiss shipping group MSC, took its billion-dollar investment forecast in Brazil to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva – including a R$3 billion project to Portonave, in Navegantes.

The value includes work on the docking pier, which is already underway, the purchase of new equipment, acquisition of land for expansion of the retroport area, and the expansion of the port itself. The billion-dollar investment is designed for a period of up to five years. Portonave is the second terminal that handles the most containers in Brazil.

President Lula and the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, received the president of the MSC Group, Diego Aponte, in Brasília; the Global CEO of TIL, Ammar Kanaan, the investment director, Patricio Junior, and the president of MSC Shipping in Brazil, Elber Justo; to sign the extension of the Port of Santos lease contract for another 20 years – a negotiation worth R$4 billion.

In total, TIL has R$17 billion in projects under prospecting in Brazil in the coming years.
